St. George's College, Aruvithura, has a man-made pond in front of the college, which is used for small-scale fish farming. The fish farm serves as an important educational and research resource for our students, allowing them to learn about sustainable fish farming practices. We primarily focus on breeding tilapia, a freshwater fish that is known for its rapid growth and hardiness.

The fish are fed a balanced diet that includes commercial fish feed and locally available organic materials. We practice organic fish farming and avoid using chemicals and antibiotics that can harm the environment.

In addition to being a source of food and an educational resource, the fish farm also helps to promote sustainable agriculture practices. The fish waste is used as a natural fertilizer for our botanical garden and poly house, reducing our reliance on chemical fertilizers.
