Since its inception in 1978, the Department of Economics has been dedicated to delivering a higher level of quality education. Our esteemed faculty, both past and present, are committed to maintaining an environment of intellectual pursuit and academic excellence. We offer a Bachelor of Arts in Economics with an annual intake capacity of 40 students.
Our department caters to a diverse spectrum of society, with a significant number of students from marginalized backgrounds seeking educational opportunities here. By graduating from our department, these students have been able to uplift their social status and reach higher levels of achievement. One of our notable alumni, Sri. Manu Vetticken IES, currently serves as a deputy secretary to the central government, exemplifying the success our graduates have achieved.
At our department, we are acutely aware of the economic turbulences in the global scenario. To familiarize our students with these challenges, we regularly organize seminars and workshops that shed light on current economic issues. In 2016, we successfully conducted a National Seminar sponsored by the UGC on the topic of Fiscal Consolidation and the FRBM Act. The seminar garnered significant participation and featured distinguished resource persons from prestigious institutions including IITs.
Over the years, our department has evolved, and we currently have three dedicated and enthusiastic faculty members who are eager to contribute their maximum efforts to the department's growth. Our faculty members pay special attention to the needs of our students, guiding them towards a better future and helping them develop the necessary skills for success.
