Department of Computer Applications (Aided)

"I think everybody in this country should learn how to program a computer, should learn a computer language, because it teaches you how to think. I view computer science as a liberal art. It should be something that everyone takes”…….Steve Jobs

With a vision to modernize the face of St. George’s College, Aruvithura, Department of Computer Applications started in the year 2014. Our department provides the under graduate course, Bachelor in Computer Applications (BCA). We have a total of 24 seats in aided stream. Also, the department offers two certification courses “IT Skills” and “An Introduction To Web Designing (Html, CSS)”. We have a team of   enthusiastic and experienced faculties always being focussed in the formation of students. Currently there are 4 faculties in the department.
From the inception department has a vision to bring out the best from the students and to do the best for them, so that they become intellectually best in the industry .To strengthen this motive we have a well-equipped software lab and ICT facilities. We also have a hardware lab to familiarize our students with the hardware components along with software.  Since industry needs students with good coding skills we give priority to the coding skills of our students by encouraging them in spending additional time in software lab apart from scheduled timetable.
To empower the students for placements we are giving special coaching for aptitude test and competitions in coding. Every year we are giving workshops, seminars and talks about recent technologies for our students to bridge the gap between academia and industry. We also have MOU’s with prestigious institutions   to improve the quality of education.

Along with the technical skill development, our department also aims to bring out socially responsible individuals. As a part of this, our department has an ‘E-Waste Management initiative’ where the students engage in recycling E-Waste.
