OBJECTIVES OF THE COURSE
1.    To Know the basics of mutual funds, different kinds of mutual fund schemes and their features
2.    To know the various distribution channels and its structure
3.    To be oriented to the legalities, accounting, valuation and taxation aspects underlying mutual funds and their distribution.

Module I. Concept and Role of a Mutual Fund    (10 hours)
Mutual fund and its functions, Investment objectives of different kinds of mutual fund products , Concept of Marking To Market ,Concept of unit Capital, Assets under Management, Fund Running Expenses and Net Asset Value Advantages and limitations of mutual fund, Concept of closed end funds, open ended funds and interval funds. Concept of actively managed funds and passive funds, Categorization of mutual fund schemes, Developments in the Mutual Fund Industry over the years,

Module 2.Structure of mutual funds in India    ( 5 hours)
Role of the Sponsor, Trustee and AMC, Regulatory provisions with respect to Sponsor, Trustee and AMC, Role and Functions of Service Providers of mutual fund,. Payment Aggregators

Module 3. Legal and Regulatory Environment    (8 Hours)
Role of SEBI in regulating mutual funds, Concept of a Self Regulator, Functions of AMFI,AMFI Code of Ethics (ACE) and AMFI Guidelines and Norms for Intermediaries (AGNI), Due Diligence process for its distributors, Rights and obligations of investors in a mutual fund ,New Fund Offer, Statement of Additional Information (SAI) and Scheme Information Document (SID),Key Information Memorandum (KIM)

Module 4. Fund Distribution and Accounting    (7 Hours)
Traditional distribution channels ,Alternate Distribution channels of mutual funds, Pre-requisites to be fulfilled to become a distributor of a mutual fund Commissions and Transaction Charges for mutual fund
distributor ,Regulatory requirements governing payment of commissions to distributors,SEBI Advertising Code for Mutual Funds, Net assets of a mutual fund scheme and NAV , Accounting and reporting requirements applicable to mutual funds, Valuation process ,Tax provisions applicable to a mutual fund.

OUTCOME OF THE COURSE.
1.    At the end of the course, students are aware about mutual fund and the various schemes of mutual fund.
2.    The students become more interested to invest their small savings in mutual fund.
3.    They are able to work in stock market as brokers of mutual funds.
