Our department has a proud history that dates back to 1982 when we introduced the BSc Chemistry (main) course. Since then, we have been dedicated to providing quality education in the field of chemistry. In 1995, we took another significant step by launching the MSc Chemistry program, becoming the first college in our region to offer postgraduate studies in chemistry.
We are proud to inform you that our department is a recognized research center by MG University. This recognition, received in 2000, highlights our commitment to advancing knowledge and contributing to the field of chemistry through research. As a research center, we offer a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) program in chemistry, providing an opportunity for aspiring researchers to delve deeper into their chosen area of study.
Our department boasts five well-equipped laboratories and a sophisticated instrumentation center. Within these facilities, we have state-of-the-art equipment such as FT IR and UV-Vis spectrophotometers, enabling our students and faculty to conduct advanced experiments and analysis. Additionally, we have a modern computer lab with internet facilities to facilitate research, data analysis, and scientific communication.
The achievements of our students are a testament to the quality of education and opportunities provided by our department. Over the years, our students have achieved remarkable success, securing 12 university ranks for BSc and 17 for MSc. Furthermore, 27 of our students have been selected in the prestigious CSIR-UGC JRF/NET Exam, demonstrating their exceptional aptitude in chemistry.
In recognition of our department's commitment to excellence, we were honored with the title of 'DST-FIST Supported Department' by the Department of Science and Technology, Government of India, in 2008. This acknowledgment reflects our dedication to maintaining high standards in teaching, research, and infrastructure.
