National Service Scheme of college Aruvithura organised a seminar on

organic farming for all NSS volunteers.The class was taken by Erattupetta Agricultural officer

Smt.RSandhya.The presidential address was delivered by our college principal Sri.M.VGeorgekutty.The

class mainly concentrated on the importance of organic farming and also discussed the ways for doing

organic farming.The class was very effective and gave an inspiration to all students.

The programme was organised by NSS programme officers and volunteer secretary.


National Service Scheme of college Aruvithura constructed a home for a man who is

reportedly engaged in open defeaction.This was the first house constructed under the

programme`kaithangu'.For construction we collected money and materials from all college students and

other beneficies.Work started in February 2016 and ended in June 2016.And later we gave the key to

the owner.Around 30 volunteers and programme officers were actively participated in the construction



On Agust 15 Independence Day was celebrated in a befitting manner.All the NSS volunteers gathered for

the flag hosting cermonyinfront of the college.Our college principal Sri.M.VGeorgekuttyhositred the

flag.All NSS volunteers recited the NSS song and National Anthem.

After flag hosting ceremony all volunteers gathered together for the beautification of campus.we

observed August 15 as zero waste day.Wastes were collected from the campus and also from outside

the campus.The pavements leading to the college were cleaned and beautified by planting certain

flower bearing plants.

After that we conducted a patriotic song competition and a quiz competition.All the groups were

actively participated in the competitions.About 100 NSS volunteers had participated in the

programme.Mis.Sini Jacob was the quismaster.Questions aimed at generating an awarness about

freedom fighting and independence struggles.All the groups participated sincerely.Winners were duly

recognized and prizes were given to them.

Legal Orientation Class in

Partnership Village-LOVE KOTTAYAM

On behalf of the NSS unit of St.George’s College Aruvithura, the NSS volunteers had visited the

partnership village ‘Lakshamveedu’ colony at Kondoor, Erattupetta and gave them a legal orientation

class as part of ‘ LOVE Kottayam’ project by Kottayam District Legal Service Authority.

Six NSS volunteers who attended trainers training programme of this project in BCM college

Kottayam had visited each house in the village and gave them orientation class and also a legal

awareness book provided by Kottayam District Legal Service Authority . The volunteers visited all the 30

houses in the colony and gave them ample awareness about their rights guaranteed by the constitution.

The main objective of this programme was to develop a legal awareness amoung the people in

the society.
